And the 9th Highlight from my PGCE year is…
Linking up with @MissBartels class in Canada!
I blogged in detail about this at the time- so I won’t repeat it all here!
But this was an amazing experience and one which my class certainly loved (and I know Miss Bartles class did too!)
We linked up just before the start of the Vancouver Winter Olympics which fitted in really well with our ancient Greece/Olympics topic! The children in my placement class were really enthused and excited about the prospect of communicating and talking to Canada and I had nearly my whole class online at 7pm numerous nights talking ‘live’ to Miss Bartels class via Primary pad.
Exploring the Olympics was great- but was I think was even better was the cultural and global awareness which the experience helped develop in the children!
When I left this placement class a week and a bit ago, they still listed it as one of their favourite parts of the year!
I’m certainly going to be trying to link up with other classes around the world this year (and I hope Miss Bartels new class will be willing to link with my new class!)
